bento box bag for Big M's birthday goody bags...
Then I also bought these wonderful books at Kinokuniya the other time :).  I love the bag book, it's inspirational...makes me want to buy one of those industrial grade sewing machine...maybe when our house is finally done... :)...AND on a happier note...my sister just got engage :) and I can't wait for the wedding party ;)...hopefully it will be a trip to the US of A...it's been awhile since I went there...would be nice to visit my old "home" again :).

Look at those wonderful bags :) they're so adorable!!!

recipe book cover

yes yes...it's something I was meant to finish LAST YEAR...I know I know..I've been a total slacker...well, to defend myself, it was not totally my fault :D...Catherine gave me the wrong size last time! And when I tried fixing it, I ruined the beautiful fabric...but I could still salvage them and turn them into a wallet, maybe?? :)  That's next on my to do list, I guess.  So, this time I use a pinkish oil cloth fabric which I'm sure she loves, since she loves pastel colors :).  It's a very special recipe book...made by her aunties and siblings :)...a family recipe book they printed online, which I think is a very sweet idea :).  I'll wait patiently for her cooked foods ;)

Catherine's Food Survival Bible :D

On another note...I've been reading comics like crazy using my e-reader :)...TOTALLY justify my spending!!!! I can now download all the comics and upload them on my beloved e-reader :)...for free!  I even donated some to the site since it totally worths donating :D.  You can have one too here in Indonesia through papataka!  I LOVE MY little black reader :D..I bring it everywhere I go now...the downside is...I'm not very productive :p

e-reader in indonesia

Do you know there's a new company, called papataka...they sell e-readers and e-books :).  I'd say it's the first in Indonesia.  I just went to a book fair at Istora Senayan and bought a few interesting things :).  But I must say, papataka is awfully interesting...they even have New York Times bestsellers as well as some interesting free books!!! Oooo and you can read comics!  There are even some craft books.  I am seriously considering about buying an e-reader soon.  I'm currently reading Breaking Dawn, and it's awfully thick to carry around....oooo I can SO IMAGINE myself reading through an e-reader :)

a cute baby book

All these times...I didn't know this baby book is my friend's!  I've been eyeing this baby book, and every time I saw it at Kinokuniya, I knew I couldn't buy it...because I've already bought a baby book :(.  So, if you need a baby book, call to order at: +62 (0)21 3441509.  It's IDR 150,000 each :).

oooo how i've failed....

miserably...at making this dress from happy homemade book.  I tried to model it but thought it was simply too hideous to be shown to public hahahahaha....I think this is just going to be a night gown :D.  Oh, and I sewed the pockets too low :D

the bookworm in me...

wants a new bookmark :)...so, before I dozed off to sleep, I sewed some :)...I bought some cocca scrap fabrics in Japan...they're quite expensive to my standard...hence, I was only able to buy scraps :p...so I've decided I want that "zig zag" selvedge on it and mix it with a linen cotton material I bought in Japan too.  The back of the bookmarks, I use some scraps I found in my scrap bin :D.  The flower machine embroidery kinda failed....ow well :D

vintage and used books: found

After lunch, I went to Carrefour at Melawai to buy some milk and diapers...then I was distracted by a big banner that read more than 150 seamstresses at Basement level...so I went down the basement level...and instead of seamstresses, I found these little shops of vintage and used books!  Both in Bahasa Indonesia and English...now I know where to sell my textbooks, magazines and my novels! :D

i've finally got you...

after a long peek at amazon japan...and even after actually trying to buy them online (but my card got declined for security reason)...these wonderful books are finally here...and I got them from kinokuniya last night :)...I need to make matching outfits for the misfits' mother's day event on Friday..maybe the ruffled dress would be nice for us...maybe...

the reason i love japanese magazines

my close friends would know I'd spend considerable amount of time at Kinokuniya bookstore at Plaza Senayan :p...last night, I didn't know what else to look...then I peeked at a section I don't usually look.  I found Spoon magazine...wow...beautiful inspiration...from today...you're in my list :)

books shopping

just got back from a very short trip to Singapore.  I was supposed to do my lasik...but you see...people have been asking me what my prescriptions are...and ehmm...they're only -1.00 and ummm -1.50 and people would laugh .... so, at the last minute I bailed out...I first bailed out because my misfits were sick this week and in the midst of panic, I cancelled everything...and when I did my eyes check, one of the eye examiner told me I won't profit much...because my eyes aren't that bad :p...

so, instead...I went and accompanied my sister in law who did her lasik and shopped me some beautiful books....so happy :D

crochet crochet here and there

I am soooo into these little crochet motifs....I have so many things I want to put them into :) hehehehhehee...I even bought a few more crochet books...I love easy and quick projects and I finished this one in an hour-ish time :)....not bad, eh?? :D....now my mom begs me to make her half a top...it's quite cute, actually...she bought this top from Banana Republic, if I'm not mistaken...and the top has this crochet-like top, which is kinda cute...but will take me FOREVER to make :)...I'm still contemplating the idea of making it :p....maybe later...

misfit's art apron

I've finally finished an art apron for misfit.  I think I might need to make another one...the pattern I got from the latest Cucito magazine (one of my favorite Japanese children clothing magz).  I hate the bias tape...but it turned out pretty well :), the next one I will make the bias on the neck go all the way, so I can just tie the apron at the back instead of putting grommet buttons :)

tokyo diary: day 1

It's been a very tiring day...our hotel, Tokyustay at Nishi Shinjuku is a brand new hotel near the nishi shinjuku gochome station. It is definitely good price plus each room has a washing/drying machine!!! What's not to like? :). Anyways, we were only able to check in after 4pm, we arrived at the hotel around 10:30 am. So, we decided to wander around a bit. First stop was the infamous Harajuku, we ate at some delicious fast food (hamburger rice-very good) then headed over to these cute little stores in Harajuku...first stop was Edward

Further along Harajuku, we found this cute pet paradise shop!! I thought this was a children's clothing shop...

From here, we walked to Shibuya and I saw this very Japanese clothing shop (at least the clothing here look like those in my Japanese sewing book) called ehka sopo

I then found this extremely cute shop called mint design...oooo I love their fabric prints, so very beautiful and not to mention...expensive! So I could only drool :(...Next to this shop, I found a book store and I bought some Japanese sewing books

By now we were all very tired and decided to go back to the hotel to take a shower...it is now my turn :)...here is my treasures for today (I found a little fabric shop along the way)! sayonara!
